2.2       MORTAR AND ACCESSORIES
 
A.       Mortar: ASTM C270 Type N or Type S mortar, complying with Section 04 05 15 requirements.
 
B.       Cleaning Materials: Mild soap and water or an approved equal cleaning solution which will not harm manufactured masonry or adjacent materials and is acceptable to the masonry manufacturer. Does not need to be sealed
 
PART 3 - EXECUTION
 
3.1       EXAMINATION
 
A.       Examine substrates and installation conditions. Do not proceed with manufactured brick masonry work until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
 
B.       Installation constitutes acceptance of existing conditions and responsibility for satisfactory performance.
 
3.2       PREPARATION
 
A.       Establish, lines, levels and coursing.
 
B.       Layout walls in advance for accurate spacing of surface bond patterns, with uniform joint widths and to properly locate openings, returns and offsets. Trim panels as required to avoid the use of less than half-size units at corners, jambs and other locations.
 
3.3       INSTALLATION
 
A.       Install manufactured brick masonry panels in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions. 
1.         Provide courses level, accurately spaced and coordinated with other work.
2.         Install starter strips straight and level at base of wall. Attach with appropriate fasteners every 4 to 6 inches on center.  
3.         Install right bottom Corner Panel or Corner Return with panel seated down into starter strip channel.
4.         Install first Main Panel with Fast-Track™ screwing flange, spacer and panel ledge. Attach with appropriate fasteners every 4 to 6 inches on center, no more than 3 screws per panel are required.
5.         Install additional Main Panels until reaching an obstacle, wall opening or opposite corner.
6.         Install Half Panels or Trimming Panels, trimmed to fit, as required to complete the first course of manufactured brick masonry panels
7.         Provide two-piece J-Channels at perimeter of wall openings. Seal space between the brick panels and J-Channels with joint sealant to prevent water infiltration.
8.         Install additional brick panels starting at the right corner and working to the left corner and extending vertically to top of wall.
9.         Install Brick Ledges, Soldier Row courses and Soldier Corners where indicated.
 
B.       After all brick panels and trim are installed, apply joint mortar.
1.         Apply mortar using a bakers bag, PointMaster™ tool, Quickpoint™ hopper gun or similar device.
2.         Apply mortar first to vertical joints and than to horizontal joints.
3.         After joints have been filled and mortar has become firm, tool joints with a brick jointer tool to provide a concave joint.
 
3.4       CLEANING
 
A.       In Progress Cleaning: Wipe off excess mortar as the work progresses. Dry brush exposed masonry with bristle brushes at the end of each day's work. Remove mortar spatters and joint ridges.
 
B.       Final Cleaning: After mortar is set and cured, clean exposed masonry in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
1.         Proprietary cleaning agents: When approved for use by the Architect:
a. Protect adjacent non-masonry surfaces from contact with cleaner by covering them with liquid strippable masking agent, polyethylene film, or waterproof masking tape.
b. .Wet wall surfaces with water prior to application of cleaners; remove cleaners promptly by rinsing thoroughly with clear water.
